Keeping up with content posted to this and/or multiple blogs can be a job in and of iteslf sometimes. The soltution to blog infoglut is to use an aggregator, and there are several out there to chhose from. The one that I use and that I’m particularly fond of is Bloglines. Creating an account is free, and is especially useful if you monitor numerous blogs. To view Bloglines in action, take a look at my account:

You can add as many feeds to Bloglines as you like, including the RSS feed for our blog, in which case the URL that you add is http://blog.uwinnipeg.ca/unlvref/index.rdfA second way to monitor blog content is through your web browser. Well, not just any web browser, but specifically with Firefox. There are two extensions that will make adding and monitoring RSS feeds a breeze, but there is some initial setup involved:

  • Sage (essentailly an aggregator built-in to your bowser - install)
  • LiveLines 0.3.2 (adds RSS feeds to either Bloglines or Sage in one click with the RSS icon in the status bar).

And finally (and best of all!) Konfabulator is now available for Windows (those of us who are Mac users have been using this for a while). It’s a Widget program that allows you to load a little ‘widget’ that will display a live feed of our blog right on your desktop.
