Some of the usual mesothelioma treatments include surgery and radiation and chemotherapy. Surgery is mainly used for early stages of the disease and can provide palliative relief from symptomatic effusions or pain caused by mesothelioma cancer. However, the rate for overall survival is as yet unknown. On the other hand, radiation and chemotherapy are known ways to alleviate the pain caused by mesothelioma. They have shown good results but sadly, the ability to control mesothelioma symptoms is short lived. Recently research has been done on alternative practices like acupuncture and herbal treatments but these methods have not been carefully documented at the moment.
